Important Remarks

  • All announcement and notes related to the course will published on https://kimya.itu.edu.tr and “ninova” system. Students are supposed to check this web sites regularly.
  • Course success will consist of 30% midterm I, 30% midterm II, and 40% final exam. Students, who do not attend midterm exams, are not admitted to the final exam and get VF.
  • Letter grades are determined according to Senate Guidelines.
  • Students can attend only those classes for which they are officially enrolled.
  • In evaluation of exam grades;
    -Exams will be multiple-choice.

            -Exam grades will be calculated by subtracting one quarter of the number of incorrect answers from the number of correct answers. If the exam grade is negative, the grade will be considered as zero.

  • Students will apply to the faculty they are affiliated with to object to exam results and take excuse exams. They must forward the official letter they receive from the faculty to the KIM 101 coordinator.
  • Students must bring their own calculators into their exams that they’re familiar with and that are in good working order. Calculators may not be shared.
  • Students are not allowed to use mobile phones as calculators.
  • A PDF file about Naming Chemical Compounds is available on the Chemistry Department web site.
